Our Story
In 2015, due to much love for jewelry and the famous key necklace, Jan, owner and founder of Ella K, decided to start searching for unique keys to engrave inspirational words on and give to friends and family.....{The key to one's once childhood home, a deceased grandparents' key to their 1967 Chevy, any key that looked vintage or even new was a key that could tell a story.} She soon discovered that everyone loved the key necklaces as much as she did and decided to start doing this as more than just a hobby. Hence Ella K was formed.
The name originated from and was inspired by Jan’s beloved daughter; Caden Ella, nickname; KK.
In those days, you could find handmade Ella K pieces in a few local boutique in Jan's hometown of Laurel, Mississippi. The business actually grew to more that just necklaces as she also made sari silk tassel pieces, chokers, pearl hemp necklaces, bracelets, earrings and much more.
The Lord blessed her small business, she believed, because of using the talents He had given her. Then life happened. In September 2017, Jan's husband, Stephen had a brain aneurysm. Ella K had to be put on hold.
In 2021, after much prayer, Jan decided to quit her full time job and come home to become her husband’s caregiver.
Today Jan is blessed with the opportunity of not only caring for Stephen but also doing all things Ella K full time from her home.
"What better time to start Ella K than now” Jan stated when asked why she wanted to get Ella K up and running again. The key necklace may not be the highlight as it was before, but Ella K will bring it’s customers the most unique pieces in hopes that they will love the way they look and feel when wearing or using Ella K products.
